A Breakdown of Each Powertrain Available for the 2018 Honda Clarity

Drivers across Michigan are searching for ways to cut down their emissions. More and more auto makers are heeding this call, but Honda remains on the forefront of the eco-friendly auto movement.

Alongside its lineup of conventional hybrid models, Honda offers its cutting-edge 2018 Clarity. This car offers three distinct powertrains, each offering its own low-emissions approach to power production.

2018 Clarity Plug-In Hybrid: This powertrain combines the efforts of a conventional internal combustion with an electric motor. Together, they produce a combined 181 horsepower and 232 pound-feet of torque.

2018 Clarity Electric: The 2018 Clarity Electric uses pure electric power -- there's no gasoline involved. The result? Instantaneous acceleration. You'll get all 221 pound-feet of torque as soon as you hit the accelerator.

2018 Clarity Fuel Cell: Fuel Cell engines also produce electric power. Rather than relying on a battery, though, they use a chemical reaction with Hydrogen to produce power. The benefit is a zero-emission process.
