Innovative Safety
The Honda brand has a long-standing approach of "Safety for Everyone," which is apparent with the new 2022 Honda Civic model's impressive safety rating from the IIHS. All 2022 Honda Civic models are equipped with the Honda Sensing® suite, including state-of-the-art driver assistance features. This safety suite uses advanced radar sensors and cameras to monitor traffic patterns and avoid or mitigate damage.
This safety suite includes the following driver assistance features:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System™ (CMBS™) with Pedestrian Detection: This feature automatically alerts the driver to a possible front collision and helps engage the brakes when a collision is unavoidable. With Pedestrian Detection, this feature can also recognize pedestrians and avoid more damage.
- Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW): RDM can help your vehicle stay on the road if it crosses a detected lane by adjusting steering and braking. If you cross a lane marker without signaling, the feature will alert you and adjust your steering and braking.
- Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS): The Lane Keeping Assist System can detect when the 2022 Honda Civic begins to drift out of its lane and can help center the vehicle in the detected lane by adjusting steering.
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): With ACC, you can set your preferred speed and follow distance for more convenience and safety. Even if a vehicle in front of you slows down, ACC will adjust your speed to ensure you are a safe distance away.
If you're interested in even more highly sophisticated driver assistance features, the 2022 Honda Civic EX comes with the Blind Spot Information System (BSI), which will alert you to vehicles in your blind spot when you signal for a lane change.
The 2022 Honda Civic Touring includes BSI with Cross Traffic Monitor for even more assurance. The 2022 Honda Civic Touring also includes Low-Speed Braking Control that automatically applies the brakes when an object is detected in front of or behind the vehicle and notifies the driver with audio and visual alerts. This feature is handy when navigating parking lots and fitting into tight spaces.
When it comes to passive safety, the new 2022 Honda Civic benefits from the Honda brand's proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure, which is designed to help protect passengers in a wide variety of frontal collisions, along with advanced supplemental restraint systems.
